Southern Peru Copper controls its mining exploitation from a Christie Entero HD video wall
The control and operations room of this important copper mining company has a Christie Entero HB model video wall., to monitor your entire electrical network in real time 24 hours a day×7, according to the project designed and installed by the Peruvian engineering company Procetradi.
Southern Copper Corporation (SCC) is one of the largest integrated copper producers in the world. Based in Peru, The company operates the Toquepala and Cuajone mines, located in the heights of the Andes mountain range, to some 860 kilometers southeast of Lima, as well as a refinery in the coastal city of Ilo.
With the objective of uninterrupted and real-time monitoring of these three facilities, SCC has a control and operations center in the city of Moquegua, in the southeast of the country, for real-time monitoring of the correct operation of the mines' power system, as well as to remotely manage and repair any disconnection incident caused by failures in the power network and thus reduce the time it takes to disconnect a load..
For this, This control room features a Scada system Survalent One from the provider of advanced distribution management solutions Survalent Technology, designed to control and supervise industrial processes remotely.
Besides, the company has trusted local engineering Procedures, specialized in design, architecture and integration of advanced automation solutions, control and communications in the energy sectors, agua, mining and large industry, to install a video wall Christie and view the electrical diagrams in real time provided by this automated system.
The video wall is made up of four Christie Entero HB rear projection cubes 72 inches and WUXGA resolution. These Led display cubes, with a brightness of more than a thousand lumens, They have DLP technology and have been specially developed for environments 24/7, in addition to being the first in the world to provide capabilities for wireless network operation so far.
As Rolando Jesús explains, head of power system of SCC, “Christie's solution was chosen because it met the requirements established in the project. In the time that we have been working 24/7 With the video wall we have not had any major problems, and the solution is very reliable. Besides, “Procetradi managed to speed up project times to achieve rapid implementation”.
For your part, John Charles Vilcas Balbin, project manager at Procetradi, emphasizes that “the video wall in the Southern Perú control room offers great resolution, and the bezel of the screens is almost imperceptible, which helps to display continuous electrical diagrams without noticing the transition from one cube to another”.
Another advantage that this video wall provides is its low maintenance “which helps with uninterrupted operation from the control center.”, says Vilcas, as Christie Entero HD cubes feature tried and tested solid state technology, with a zero maintenance design.
To control this video wall, the TVC-700 processor is used., also by Christie, which also allows other tools other than Survalent Scada to be displayed on the screens, such as ION Enterprise measurement software, that manages and analyzes energy information.
The TVC-700 processor has the capacity to simultaneously manage hundreds of sources and display them in high resolution anywhere, size and number of windows in a video wall. PC based and easy to use, It has been developed expressly to support the operation of critical and control environments 24/7.
Juan Carlos Chavez, Christie's director in Latin America, He is very satisfied with this project: “We are delighted that our control room solutions have been installed in Southern Perú. Christie video walls guarantee flawless operation and great reliability in environments as complex as control rooms where demands are increasing and where there can be no failures. We also want to highlight the excellent work carried out by our partner Procetradi, “which has extensive experience in the deployment of solutions for control rooms”.
