Eighteen Sound incorporates Powersoft's IPAL technology to its iD Series speakers

The Italian speaker specialist Eighteen Sound has designed its new iD Series of transducers adapted to Differential Pressure Control (DPC) of Powersoft, core technology of the innovative IPAL (Integrated powered adaptive loudspeaker).
To implement this technology, Eighteen Sound has adopted Powersoft's amplifier hardware module, IpalMod, which overcomes the limitations of traditional transducers by producing optimal output at low frequencies. It achieves this by presenting zero latency pressure sensor feedback, applying real-time correction to maximize the transducers 18 y 21 inches of high-efficiency Eighteen Sound.
Powersoft IPAL provides a dedicated low-frequency system that integrates a high-performance, high-power switching mode amplifier module. 8,5 kW (IpalMod) together with ultra-high driving force electrodynamic transducers, the 18iD and 21iD speakers from Eighteen Sound.
“Powersoft IPAL technology enables system designers to achieve a seemingly impossible mission.”. The operation of the transducers and the amplifier module, enhanced by the equally striking integration of each component via IPAL's real-time feedback control, creates an incredible sound”, explains Giacomo Previ, Director of Sales and Marketing at Eighteen Sound.
Both IPAL compliant transducers have a nominal impedance of 2 Ohms. To fully integrate with the IPAL system, and optimize operation, a pair of each model must be connected in parallel combined with an IpalMod amplifier module.
“Eighteen Sound is the second driver company to invest in our patented technology. iPAL-based speaker/amplifier systems offer unprecedented acoustic performance and complete control of system sound reproduction. IPAL and IpalMod bring many benefits, improving electroacoustic efficiency in terms of high SPL and sonic performance. Besides, The IPAL system ensures consistent driver performance throughout its entire life cycle and compensates for driver differentials in each subwoofer application.”, comments Francesco Fanicchi, Director of Brand and Communications at Powersoft
