Last September it took place at the San Manuel Amphitheater and Grounds in San Bernardino in Los Angeles (California – USA) the Nocturnal Wonderland electronic music festival. An event that for three nights offered a great audiovisual spectacle attended by more than 70.000 personas.

Its staging was organized in five different scenarios, four of which featured Steve Lieberman for their lighting design, through SJ Lighting company, that used 732 appliances Elation Professional, brand that distributes Visualsvisuals. The Temple Noctem and Labyrinth stage equipment was supplied by Visions Lighting., while Felix Lighting was in charge of the equipment for the Sunken Garden stage and the company AG Light & Wolves Den stage sound.

Temple Night/Labyrinth

The Temple Nocten had a spectacular setup with a large gas mask as the main motif on stage. Con 14 Elation Platinum FLX high-luminosity hybrid moving heads offered all kinds of tracing effects on the audience, with a design that also included 22 estrobos Protron 3K Led Strobe, 8 cegadoras Led Cuepix Blinder Warm White 2 and other Elation devices.

“The music at Temple Noctem was certainly underground and the younger people who came to Nocturnal Wonderland gathered on this stage.. For the lighting design we used a lot of the strobe effect and very dynamic programming in this scenario”, comenta Steve Lieberman.

The Visions Lighting company was in charge of supplying all the lighting material, video and structures for both this Temple Noctem stage and the Labyrinth, in addition to the exterior lighting of the entire festival site.

“Others have also been installed 60 SixPar Led Par units 300 throughout the enclosure. The fact that the LEDs of these devices are multi-chip with six colors has been very useful and for this festival we have mainly used ultraviolet color for black light projections”, explains Todd Roberts of Visions Lighting.

The set design of the Labyrinth stage emulated an oasis with a series of columns resembling giant bamboo poles that were illuminated with 16 LED bars 180 cm of length Color Chorus 72 y 41 Led Eled QW Strip Bar Units. The visual effects were carried out by 28 High luminosity Beam type moving heads ¡Platinum BX, while for the strobes they were used 22 Protron 3K Led Strobe units and as blinders 7 Cuepix Blinder WW2.

For general lighting of this stage, use was made of 52 By SixPar multi-chip LED 300, con 50 Opti Tri Par for truss structures and 20 Lumina Strip bars that provided warm white color tones.

Sunken Garden

The Sunken Garden covered stage had as its main effect a large mirror ball of 3 meters in diameter with which, as Steve Lieberman comments, “The attempt was made to recreate the atmosphere of the big nightclubs of years ago.”, with a rather dark and mysterious lighting design and without wanting to use LED video screens”.

Con 80 Cuepix Panel RGB Led matrix units throughout the stage and with pixel-mapping programming, in addition to 28 Led matrices with continuous 360° rotation in Pan and Tilt ACL 360 Matrix y 48 Led bars also with continuous 360° rotation ACL 360 Bar achieved a spectacular result.

For aerial projections and to illuminate the large mirror ball on the stage, 48 moving heads Elation Platinum Beam 5R.

Wolves' Den

With a LED video screen 500 square meters in size and 8 millimeters of pixel density at center stage, surrounded by 118 LED bars 180 cm long Colour Chourus 72 horizontally mounted, Wolves' Den has been one of the featured stages of the festival where artists like Knife Party performed, Oliver Heldens, Showtek y Above & Beyond.

Thirty-four Led Cuepix Blinder WW2 blinders were also used in this scenario., whose illumination, video and structures (con 500 meters of truss 50 centimeters wide being used in the assembly of this stage) has been carried out by the company AG Light & Sound.
