Omron Electronic Components Europe has unveiled its second generation solution for body detection, face detection and facial recognition. A solution that has its application in digital signage applications, office automation and security.

Presented in the last edition of WHEREAS, Human Vision Component HVC-P2 integrates a camera and an image processing card, multiplying by 10 the recognition speed of its predecessor. It is available in two versions according to the viewing angle of the camera module.: 50 y 90 degrees.

This Omron solution is a development based on its Okao Vision software, what, according to its manufacturer, It is already used in more than 500 millions of digital cameras, mobile phones and surveillance robots from around the world.

Incorporates ten image scanning functions, as body detection, facial recognition, hand detection and age estimation, gender and expression.

While the software can recognize a face from up to three meters away, continues to offer high reliability in its results, which can be read via a UART or USB interface. This distance is not limited to facial recognition as the module can also detect a human body at a distance of 17 meters or a hand at six meters.

The sensor has been used by a digital marketing company to provide tailored content to customers within the store, and allowing merchants to better understand their performance.
