The private and national research university Clarkson stands out for its initiatives in technological education and sustainable economic development through teaching, the investigation, scholarships and innovation. Founded in 1896, Its main campus is located in Potsdam (New York) and additional ones are found in Saranac Lake, Schenectady, Beacon and New York City.
The Student Center is located on its main campus., a building of 18.288 square meters, LEED certified, which serves as a center of campus activity and a place where students can spend time between classes, hold club meetings and participate in different activities.
The largest space within the building is the Student Center Forum (Student Center Forum), a three-story area, amphitheater style, which includes a stage, benches and three levels of surrounding balconies. Multipurpose space is used for a variety of purposes and entertainment, including concerts, shows, conferences and awards ceremonies.
When the Student Center was built in 2010, a video wall was installed to watch sports, projections, presentations and support events. ten years later, this display stand was becoming obsolete, was ending its life cycle. This is why the University decided that the time had come to update it. For this, hired the services of the systems designer and integrator Video Visions and offer a new solution.
Video Visions proposed an update with a TVF series Led video wall Planar. Based on viewing distances on the forum, Video Visions presented two options of the TVF flat panel series: an Led videowall with a pitch of 1,8 mm and another finer 1,5 mm.
The choice was the installation of a TVF Led video wall just over four meters wide by 2,5 high, with a pixel pitch of 1,5 mm (TVF1.5), designed in a 7 configuration×7.
“The Student Center Forum is the core of the student experience on campus and the Led video wall is the heart”, commented Josh Fiske, Clarkson Chief Information Officer
The TVF Planar series has cabinets 27 inches, with a stackable, wire-free design that makes the video wall easier to install in a wide range of spaces.
“We were working with size parameters, we had to adapt the existing installation that had a cabinet built around. With the Planar TVF Series, “We were able to make it fit easily without having to redesign the entire bracket again.”, explains Mary Ellen Milanese, president of Video Visions.
