The O'Leary's restaurant chain manages its network of screens with AMX SVSI
The chain has provided each establishment with an AV solution, composed of decoders and control systems AMX SVSI to control the dozens of TV screens installed.
To provide each location with an ideal solution to control dozens of displays, O’Leary’s hired Swedish AV integration company Effect groups AB to equip each facility with encoders, series decoders and control systems AMX SVSI N2400.
Effektgruppen AB has equipped several O'Leary's restaurants in Europe and Asia with networked AV solutions AMX SVSI to control the dozens of TV screens that each establishment has.
O'Learys is a Swedish restaurant chain with operations in Europe and Asia. Each establishment has a large number of screens, which constantly broadcast a variety of sporting events.
In this way, restaurants provide a sports bar experience, American style, where customers can watch the game of their choice while dining and having fun with their friends playing darts and bowling.
In the 25 years since O'Leary's opened its first location in Gothenburg, New franchises have been added in places like Singapore, China and the United Arab Emirates.
AMX N2400 Distribution
To provide each location with an ideal solution to control dozens of displays, O’Leary’s hired Swedish AV integration company Effektgruppen AB to equip each facility with encoders, AMX SVSI N2400 series decoders and control systems.
“For a medium sized place, there is usually at least 40 a 50 screens”, explains Jörgen Olsson, Project Sales specialist at Effektgruppen AB. “The general idea is that customers can always see one or two screens. The challenge is making sure everyone has one in sight. We calculate your positioning, taking into account where each client sits, screen size, etc. If you want to ensure a good viewing experience, you need a lot of televisions”.
To distribute high-quality video and audio to as many screens, Effektgruppen selected AMX N2400 series encoders and decoders.
When using JPEG2000 encoding, N2400 series solutions deliver cinema-quality video with 4K resolution and speeds of 60 fps with subframe latency. HDMI Compatibility 2.0, HDCP 2.2 and HDR allows end users to realize the full potential of their source and display devices.
Para in O’Laya, scalability is a big concern. As the sports bar concept grows in popularity around the world, the chain wanted to be able to respond to increased demand and quickly launch new stores.
Effektgruppen's use of AMX SVSI is driven, in part, for the need for a standards-compliant video over IP control system that can scale efficiently as franchises expand.
“We used matrix switches in the past, which become complicated when you manage so many screens”, explains Olsson. “Another factor is that these bars tend to become very popular, and it's not uncommon for franchise owners to expand after a year or two. We needed something that was easy to reconfigure. Para in O’Laya, AMX just made sense, particularly from a cost perspective”.
N2400 Series Encoders and Decoders, that operate on standard networks 1 Gbps and only require POE+ power, provide the 4K60 solution 4:4:4 more scalable.
“In the past, “We traveled to the bar and helped with the installation ourselves”, Clara Olsson. "Now, we simply configure the system in our offices and then ship it to the client, where it can be installed by a local partner. SVSI uses standard Ethernet cables, that all electricians are familiar with, which makes everything much easier”.
