A large curved LED screen focuses the attention of poker players at The Gardens Casino

This renovated California casino has a striking curved LED screen, of the Nixel series of Nanolumens, in which live tournaments are shown, sporting events and graphics that are followed by players.

In The Gardens Casino, located in the Californian town of Hawaiian Gardens, players take their poker seriously. In fact, the casino often hosts major tournaments, in addition to offering the possibility of playing twenty-four hours a day in its famous poker room.

A recent renovation of the casino, with a budget of about ninety million dollars, has added a new building of more than 18.000 m2, equipped with more than three hundred gaming tables, which houses a restaurant and a bar, a VIP room, two multipurpose rooms and a large curved LED screen, from the Nixel Series range NanoLumens.

“We needed a screen that would make it easy for players to watch various sporting events while playing at their tables., and that also allowed us to market the casino with some eye-catching graphics and content - explains Ron Sarabi, director general de The Gardens Casino-. NanoLumens designed a 178x 4.43m curved screen, with 2.5mm pixel pitch. which extends across the top of the poker room's VIP entrance and is visible from all tables in this space.

As explained by the manufacturer, “The secret to NanoLumens truly curved display technology is the Nixel patent: the flexible building block of all displays in this range, for both concave and convex curves, to fit screen mounting surface or required curvature, creating a truly curved visual surface, without gaps or seams. The end result is a better view of the horizon, no black lines or loss of visibility up to 160 degrees”.

However, Prior to the installation of this large screen, some challenges had to be faced by both NanoLumens and the integrator. AVI-SPL, before the cards for this facility were on the table.

“The space in which this screen was going to be placed was not built for the size that the casino wanted,” says Jojo Deseo., AVI-SPL design engineer. So NanoLumens had to develop a custom display, very long, narrow and difficult curve radius, that would work uninterruptedly, 24/7/365, in this space.”

NanoLumens also designed a custom wall mount to house the screen; a critical component to help the curved screen fit into a space that, as Deseo emphasizes, “it was not designed or built as a support surface for this installation, so the wall mount became the support surface for the screen”.

For your part, AVI-SPL also faced some of them at the time when the installation was starting. “With such a big screen, They also commissioned us to install about nine hundred Nixel panels, the size of a tablet, that would be part of the screen, and they had to fit very precisely”, remember wish.

Another challenge is that the installation of this large curved screen had to be done while the customers were in the gaming room., without interrupting the activity of the casino and this space.

This Nixel series visual system handles up to ten different content sources, or from one source across the entire screen, and integrates perfectly with the additional equipment that powers its content.

Jeff Wyatt, creative director of Dreamlab, company that has worked on numerous occasions with Nanolumen, has been responsible for all digital content creation for the curved screen of this casino.

“It was very interesting to work with this screen, since it is very narrow and long; not exactly a standard size, and has been designed as a full-size screen”, subraya Wyatt, whose company created the marketing content that displays across the entire screen, including a 3D animated golden dragon.
