AV Stumpfl brings projection magic to Hong Kong dinosaur exhibition
The skeleton of a Spinosaurus has come to life in the Hong Kong Science Museum thanks to a complex set of projectors, powered by media servers BY Stumpfl Pixera two Quad.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), its science museum has organized a large-scale dinosaur exhibition called ‘The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: The Big Eight – Dinosaur Revelation’. An immersive experience in which IT solutions have an important relevance. BY Stumpfl.
Eight of the most iconic prehistoric creatures, Original fossil material and fully intact skeletons are displayed in an attractive and dynamic way thanks to a series of multimedia projection techniques and special lighting effects, that mix the worlds of scientific research and scenography
The local integrator Cosmovision has been responsible for the installation of several short throw projectors - in horizontal and vertical orientation- in a wave-shaped canvas structure. Jason Yeung, technical sales engineer, has expressed the complexity of the project, due to assembly irregularities.
“The wave-shaped canvas of 10×7 meters required complex placement of equipment. We had to take into account the overlapping areas to blend the edges and eliminate any cast shadows. It was difficult, but using camera calibration software Vioso, integrated from Pixelera, calculations could be done automatically”.
Two media server units Pixera two Quad the AV Stumpfl, deployed alongside multiple short throw projectors (with rotating lenses), were Cosmovision's choice for an installation as demanding as this one.
The Pixera media server system is an integral component of cutting-edge workflows that can include ultra-high definition content or even engine Unreal, and is available as a hardware-based or software-only solution.
“It is a pleasure to be part of this application, since bringing quality audiovisual equipment to the museum environment elevates the visitor experience to a new level”, Yeung adds..
