Martin Audio Adds Versatile 8” WSP Line Array to Wavefront Precision Series
Designed to set a new benchmark for line arrays 8 inches, The manufacturer has added a more flexible and profitable model to its well-known range.
The Wavefront Precision series of Martin Audio evolved the technology and innovation of its historic MLA by offering external amplification and scalable resolution. Systems offer significantly improved coverage and control, compared to standard line arrays, and they are more flexible, upgradeable and economical.
Dom Harter, Managing Director of Martin Audio, explains that “the more enclosures with dedicated amplifier channels, the greater the resolution and scale of coverage and control obtained. This means that, even at the lowest resolution level, results are still fundamentally better than traditional line arrays, no additional cost, and at the higher end of resolution users can enjoy the benefits that MLA systems offer.”.
According to this analysis, This manager points out that “other manufacturers are forcing their clients to buy very expensive and fixed quantities of amplifiers to optimize the arrays.”. Con Wavefront Precision, the decision on the level of coverage control and, therefore, the number of efficient iKON amplifiers required, “It belongs to the client.”.
In this sense, The 8” LF WPS model is the fourth to be added to this series, composed of the already known WPL (12” LF), WPC (10” LF) y WPM (6.5” LF). It is a versatile line array, with a maximum SPL of 133dB, especially indicated for applications that require a high-performance array with low weight and volume.
Designed with coverage, Martin Audio signature sound consistency and performance, The flexibility of WPS makes it an ideal system for live sound reinforcement and theater installations, concert halls and temples. Return on investment in a rental company's stock is maximized by also implementing WPS arrays as front fills, Suspended delays or laterals for larger Wavefront Precision systems.
WPS is a three-way passive system that integrates a high density of transducers in a very compact enclosure. It has two 8” LF transducers; four 4” midrange drivers and four 1” HF compression drivers, with a molded HF horn that spans the entire width of the enclosure, defining the 100° horizontal constant directivity coverage pattern of both mid and high frequency sections.
4” midrange drivers are compression loaded for increased efficiency, as well as to enter the walls of the horn through annular grooves, near HF throat, to effectively merge with the HF wavefront. In this section, Four 1” compression drivers deliver pristine high-frequency sound, without the harshness and distortion associated with larger format devices.
8” LF transducers are placed behind the walls of the HF speaker, with a small volume of air in front of each transducer, which increases output at the upper end of its operating range. LF output openings are spaced horizontally to provide useful control of the horizontal LF pattern.
“WPS was an innovative development,” says Dom Harter.. We wanted to overcome the shortcomings and compromises of other 8” line arrays currently on the market.. That's why we have more transducers in WPS than any other model in its category., with spacing, waveguide and points of crossoverDesigned to deliver optimal HF performance, with control of medium and high frequency price patterns, even at high SPL”.
To extend your low frequency performance, WPS is designed to be associated with the SXC118 cardioid subwoofer and its variant to be flown, model SXCF118.
“Wavefront Precision has been the brand's fastest-selling series of line arrays,” Harter recalls., and a major contributing factor to Martin Audio's rapid success over the past three years. The introduction of WPS expands the line into a powerful, optimized line array family that will better serve customers around the world.”.
WPS will be part of the Martin Audio presentation during the event InfoComm 2019 (stand 6743 and audio demo room W224C) which will be celebrated from 12 al 14 June at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, (Florida - EU), and will be available worldwide from September 2019.
