Robe joins Asia's most iconic water show
As part of a campaign to improve technical equipment and include more sustainable and advanced options, in the theater where The House of Dancing Water is performed, 41 BMFL Wash XF moving heads and 21 Led Robe Tarrantula.
The water show, considered the largest in the world, The House of Dancing Water (Thodw), directed by Franco Dragone and staged at the House of Dancing Water Theater in Macau (China), has incorporated into its lighting infrastructure 63 new moving lights Robe.
As part of a campaign to improve the technical equipment and include more sustainable and advanced options than those available in 2010 when the show was first released, have been installed 41 BMFL Wash XF y 21 Led Robe Tarrantula.
The integrity, the drama and dynamics of lighting design, original de Luc Lafortune, are preserved, as the concept works in a timeless way to support the narrative of the show.
Thodw is one of the most successful entertainment phenomena in the world. With more than 3.500 representations, has been enjoyed by more than three million spectators who have been captivated by this incredible work of aquatic art, the first original water theater show presented in Asia.
The lighting chief, projection and special effects, for theater and show, I'm Karl Jenkins. He has been in the position for two and a half years, where he leads a team of 26 technicians and has previously worked on several Cirque du Soleil projects.
They needed a strong, robust wash light to replace their previous ones and the BMFL Wash XF was selected after Karl and his team examined all the available options.. “The performance, The mix of colors and its fresnel lens were key to its choice. They didn't need a multipurpose unit, but they wanted that rich, deep fresnel look along with high performance to cope with the long throw distance, with a refined and elegant mix of colors”.
The lights were delivered by Robe's distributor in Hong Kong, ArcSource. All BMFLs are placed on the upper grid at levels 5 y 6, at a distance of between 18 y 25 meters above the stage.
The Tarrantulas are enclosed in a series of Plexiglas (luminous bubbles), below the surface of the water and are used to highlight the underwater environment, working in unison with the special FX, including boiling and other effects created by microbubbles in water. Karl and the team specifically wanted an LED wash fixture for this task..
With a total of more than a thousand luminaires in the show, including several IP67 submersibles and 68-, Robe is now also an integral and important part of this production milestone.
The entire lighting system is processed through a console MA Lighting grandMA2 with a backbone Luminex which is another recent update. It is a show that has been evolving and updating over the years. Now it has been the lighting infrastructure but, as already published in Digital AV Magazine, Last June it was the turn of their communications system that was renewed with Riedel.
