f Meyer Sound innovates large-scale line array technology with Panther

Meyer Sound Panther

The new Panther line array speaker from Meyer Sound It is designed to accommodate large-scale touring installation environments, with a compact size, light, powerful and energy efficient.

In a market with increasingly complex productions and high visual potential, along with stricter safety regulations, which often limit the space and weight allowed for speakers, while environmental policies require greater energy efficiency and a smaller transport footprint, Meyer Sound responds with its new line array speaker Panther.

The acoustic power of this system is closer to the characteristics of the Meyer Sound line array LEO, bigger and heavier, but in the most compact format of the model Lyon, also from the manufacturer's line array range. With great performance, Panther pesa solo 68 Kg. and offers substantial energy consumption savings compared to previous range speakers.

Meyer Sound Panther features a network input module Analog AVB/Milan, with flexible signal distribution options and each box has as standard IP-55 rating.

“This is our most important speaker presentation in more than a decade,” says J.ohn Meyer, President and CEO of Meyer Sound- Panther furthers my commitment to making speakers with linear response, Predictable coverage and wide headroom for dynamic, uncompressed playback of the music signal, especially in transient peaks”.

Designed to deliver maximum power

The Panther electronic module has a new design that incorporates a Class-D amplifier four channel, coupled with an innovative innovative power supply. With advanced power factor correction and higher voltage rails, This system provides higher peak current to the speakers, with a stable load to the AC line.

Panther also features new low frequency cones, 12” and longer excursion, as well as a 3” compression motor. Each incorporates advanced magnetic structures using new materials for higher flux density, despite the substantial weight reduction.

Meyer Sound PantherCombined with a new design of puerto LF, The result is a maximum output of 150 db SPL, 2 dB superior al Lyon y 3 dB difference compared to the LEO box, which is much bigger and heavier.

Without compromising performance, the Panther engineering team, led by Katie Murphy, Engineering Manager and Speaker Development Program, followed a unified approach to significantly reduce weight

“With Panther we created a complete system design approach,” explains Murphy.. We had electronic and mechanical engineers working in a coordinated effort, meaning we could take advantage of the reduced amplifier weight with new case designs and materials to achieve our goals.”.

Reducing the weight of the equipment means that it can be flown with a single engine plus Panther speakers, and larger sets may share the same rigging and suspension points, along with extensive video and lighting equipment.

Besides, Larger and longer arrays can be flown, while still complying with new safety regulations related to weather events. Shipping costs are also significantly reduced, especially when air transportation is required, in addition to contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Three models for precise coverage

Meyer Sound PantherThe Panther family consists of three boxes with different horizontal coverages. The models Panther M y W have 95 y 110º, respectively, and they will be more familiar options for those who currently work with Meyer Sound.

Panther L It has a new long throw speaker, with a perfectly defined 80º horizontal pattern. Three options allow system designers to customize coverage in any space, with precise and uniform response from front to back and with fewer arrays deployed (or shorter) in some applications.

Like the rest of the manufacturer's speakers, Panther offers the longevity of service that comes from optimal speaker matching, amplifiers and processing of your self-powered systems. Besides, offers new features that guarantee a greater return on investment in the long term:

Milan AVB Input Standard Certificate: by incorporating the new Milan input module, certified by the Alliance Avnu, Panther becomes the first Milan certified line array speaker, which extends network systems based on this module to the speaker box, while the parallel analog input, always active, Ensures compatibility with existing hardware.

Weather protection standard: Panther complies with the new IEC IP55 standard, with full rain protection when using standard signal connectors Top Neutrik y Powercon, so no protective cover required.

Panther boxes can be used for indoor and outdoor events without the need for special preparations. The same inventory can be assigned to a wide range of applications, from theaters and convention halls to stadiums and festivals.

Meyer Sound PantherThis increased flexibility means Panther systems spend less time in the warehouse and more time generating revenue.. In the case of tours, a lean truck fleet, no amplifier racks, Further reduce transportation costs for a better return on investment.

In this sense, Panther will go into production and ship this February to the rental company Major Tom, UK based, for the tour Ed Sheeran.

“Everyone on the team really came together and put their hearts into this project,” says Katie Murphy.. “We went to great lengths to create a speaker that would define line array technology for years to come.”.

John Meyer adds that “Panther is more than just a new product, We see it as something that adds a new dimension to what we do as a company.. It has the potential to change the path we are traveling in the audio industry. I am eager to see how industry professionals and, what is more important, the public, "they respond to it".
